Galiot Press in the Boston Globe
And with 7 days left to our Kickstarter, we have a match for $10,000
Dear Friends,
This week has been all about our Kickstarter, and some lovely coverage in the media. We have only seven days left to our campaign, and things are feeling… exciting and stressful. Some of the exciting things:
A generous backer has offered to match any pledge that comes in from now on, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000. That means any new pledges get doubled! We’re still $29,000 away from our goal, so this is huge. Please help spread the word of this, so that together we can get this campaign funded. Otherwise we will sadly get nothing. (That’s one of the stressful things.)
We’ve added some writerly rewards to our campaign, including a query letter consult, a 25-page consult, and a full manuscript consult. If you’ve been thinking of getting some feedback on your writing, jump on these to receive that feedback AND help out Galiot Press at the same time. (Plus those pledges will get matched!)
The Boston Globe published a wonderful interview with Henriette. The reporter, Lauren Daley, covered both Henriette’s latest novel, Last Days in Plaka, and Galiot Press.
Author Michelle Hoover who runs an excellent Substack podcast for writers, called 7amnovelist, ran an interview with us in which we got to discuss our press, our motivations for launching it, and how it will serve writers.
Writer Cathy Elcik, included us in her inspiring series called Tenacity Tales. She talks about "the top five ways Galiot will help writers be less tenacious in the market so they can continue to be tenacious little fiends in their work."
We’ve been prepping for the Muse and the Marketplace conference which begins here in Boston tomorrow, with our session, “What everyone should know about publishing and nobody talks about” at 10:30 am. We’ll also have a table throughout the conference and anticipate talking to A LOT of writers.
Finally, we’ve been having conversations with people about possible angel investors, equity investors, and the ways we envision scaling our business while staying true to our vision and values. It’s still early days, but it’s important to lay the foundation for solid growth, so that we can fulfill our goal of a healthy, mission-driven company.
Ok, here we go! The final Kickstarter push. Thank you for being with us on this journey, and if you’ve been thinking of supporting the campaign and just haven’t gotten to it yet, NOW’S THE TIME! (You might even notice that Kickstarter put us on their homepage.)
