The Ended World is here
Pre-orders are open, plus a new cover reveal and a pop-up bookstore
Not the end of the world, but THE ENDED WORLD, our September title! Pre-order details are here and below, after our next cover reveal.
We’re excited to reveal the cover of Daisy Rockwell’s ALICE SEES GHOSTS, coming out October 20.
We love the way this cover blends the clapboard architecture of a New England home with the floral elements of Indian design to support the world of the novel. Partly set in Western Massachusetts (where Daisy’s family—the Rockwell artist family—was based) and partly in the Himalayan foothills of India, ALICE SEES GHOSTS follows Alice Bloodshaw, an eccentric young woman attuned to the supernatural, on a winding quest to discover long buried family secrets that have had her living as somewhat of a ghost herself. Faceout Studio has done it again, with Kate Gendruschke designing this gorgeous cover for a fascinating book that blends weighty topics with wit and whimsy.
Pre-order THE ENDED WORLD
And speaking of fascinating books, we’ve got ‘em in droves. We’re pleased to announce that you can now pre-order Libbie Grant’s THE ENDED WORLD (out September 15) through the Galiot Press shop here. For those who like to click a button, here you go.
In the spirit of the transparency that is an important part of our brand, it’s worth noting that, right now, the Galiot Press website is the only place where you can pre-order Libbie’s book. Because the process of uploading book files onto the other platforms through which we fulfill orders for our books is so Byzantine that, even if we wanted to start with those other places, we couldn’t yet. We’d have to wait until a window less than 90 days before publication date. So, not only is it faster for us to make the book available to you through our own site, but it’s also better for the author, financially, and thus for Galiot Press, too. An order (pre- or post-!) through Galiot’s own shop makes a bigger profit than on any other platform. You know what to do.
Sometimes the platforms we sell on are actual physical platforms in the form of. . . tables! As seen this past Friday at The Roasted Granola café in Arlington, Massachusetts where Anjali set up a pop-up Galiot Press shop.

(Anjali here) It was such fun to hang out with my froofy honey bee latte (not my usual order, but really delicious) and chat with the people who came in for their drinks and food, not necessarily expecting a table of gorgeous books and an affable book seller to greet them. There’s always the people who assiduously avoid eye-contact, as well as those whose eyes slide quickly over the display and whose minds are visibly split about what to do, one part thinking ooh, this looks intriguing, and one part panicking at the thought of engaging with a random stranger, but the analysis of human behavior when faced with a table display and an actual human with it will be the topic of another newsletter issue. Lots of people wanted to know about the press, and some even—gulp—bought book! Shoutout to the woman who cut me off after 5 seconds and announced she was buying one of each.
This is just the latest example of the kinds of partnerships we’re building (and have built) with other businesses to get our books into the hands of readers. More news coming soon on all that. If you’re local to Arlington, look out for more pop-ups, including Saturday, June 13, and look for Galiot Press books to be regular items of merchandise you can buy there along with your scone and your coffee, froofy or not.

Stunning covers for both books!!
Love the cover. Preordering The Ended World!
